The drawbacks of rapid industrialization are taking a toll on mankind in an unprecedented manner. Countries suffer from excessive energy consumption, an exploding urban population, and environmental degradation that includes water, air, waste, groundwater, and soil pollution. Synthetic substances, the very products of the advancement in technology, are posing a significant threat to fauna and flora as they remain undecomposed in our ecosystem.
